The Police have arrested seven youths, aged between 15 and 22, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.
On 9 April 2019 at 10.56 am, the Police were alerted to a case of missing van parked at a loading and unloading bay of Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2A.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division recovered the stolen van along Ang Mo Kio Street 21 on 11 April 2019. Officers subsequently established the identities of the three male and four female suspects and arrested them on 17 April 2019. Investigations are ongoing. The suspects are also believed to be involved in a separate case of theft of motor vehicle.
Anyone convicted of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm system;
- Remove cash-cards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle and
- Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
