The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his involvement in a series of theft cases.
On 27 April 2019 at 5.43 pm, the Police received a report on a case of theft from a niche at a columbarium. Through ground enquiries by officers from Jurong Police Division and with the aid of CCTV footages, the identity of the man was established and he was subsequently arrested on 28 April 2019. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other cases of theft at the columbarium.
The man will be charged in court on 29 April 2019 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he shall be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, or with a fine, or with both.
