The Police have arrested two men, aged 25 and 27, for their suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft.

On 12 May 2019 at about 11.40 am, the Police received a report that a motorcycle, which was originally parked at a multi-story carpark along Boon Keng Road, was missing.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them on 13 May 2019. The motorcycle was also recovered.

The duo will be charged in court on 15 May 2019 with theft of motor vehicle with common intention punishable under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they can be jailed for up to 7 years and fined.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1.  Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  2.  Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  3.  Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
  4.  Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
