The Police have arrested seven men, aged between 17 and 21, for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting.

On 17 May 2019 at about 12.08 am, Police received several reports that a man was assaulted by a group of men at Blk 604 Woodlands Drive 42. The group had fled the scene prior to Polices arrival. The 27-year-old victim was conscious when conveyed to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital.

Through ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the men and arrested them on 22 May 2019.

Police investigations are ongoing. Anyone convicted for the offence of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, are liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to caning.
