The Police have arrested a 15-year-old teenager, for his suspected involvement in cases of loanshark harassment.

Between 30 May 2019 and 1 June 2019, the Police were alerted of two cases of loanshark harassment committed in Ang Mo Kio estate. A residential unit was splashed with soya sauce while another unit was splashed with faeces and urine, and a debtor’s note was left behind at the door.

Through investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him on 4 June 2019.

Investigations are ongoing.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to steer clear from all forms of loanshark-related activities, and not be tempted by the offer of quick and easy money. Parents are also advised to be mindful of their children’s activities and educate them not to fall prey to these unscrupulous criminals. The punishments for loanshark-related offences are severe, and parents must intervene promptly should their children display tell-tale signs of being under the influence of bad company.
