The Police are investigating a 14-year-old teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire.
On 5 June 2019 at about 10.45pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fire at a tentage located at Blk 508 West Coast Drive. There were no injuries or casualties reported.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the teenager. Preliminary investigation revealed that the teenager is believed to have set fire to the plastic chairs placed at the tentage area.
Police investigations are ongoing. Anyone convicted for mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, is liable for an imprisonment term up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
