The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery along Lorong 22 Geylang.
On 9 June 2019 at about 10.50pm, the Police received a report that a man had robbed a 30–year-old woman with a knife along Lorong 22 Geylang. A handphone and cash amounting to more than $2000 were stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of closed-circuit television (CCTV), officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Rangoon Road on 10 June 2019 at 4.30am.
The man will be charged in court on 11 June 2019 with armed robbery, under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than 3 years and not more than 14 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
