The Police have arrested a 44-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night.
On 27 June 2019, the Police received a report that a coffeeshop along Segar Road had been broken into and cash were stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 29 June 2019 along Fernvale Road.
The man will be charged in court on 1 July 2019 for housebreaking and theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable to imprisonment for a term not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended;
- Keep large sums of cash in banks and/or safe deposit box; and
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
