The Police have arrested two men, aged 35 and 57, for their suspected involvement in a renovation scam.
On 18 July 2019, the Police received a report from the 84-year-old victim who was purportedly cheated into paying more than $40,000 for renovation works. The victim had engaged the services of the two men to conduct minor repairs to her house. She was asked to make multiple payments amounting to $21,000 for the minimal work done. Her neighbour eventually stopped her from making a final payment of $26,000 and advised her to make a police report.
Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted investigations and established the identities of the men. Both were subsequently arrested on 19 July 2019 Cash amounting to $2,300 was seized as case exhibit.
Police investigations are ongoing.
