The Police have arrested two male teenagers, aged 14 and 15, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 22 July 2019, the Police received a report from a victim informing that his motorcycle was stolen from the multi-storey carpark located at Block 155A Yung Loh Road.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identities of the duo and arrested them within six hours after the report was lodged. The motorcycle was recovered on the same day along Yuan Ching Road.

The duo will be charged in court on 24 July 2019 with theft of motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they may be punished with imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm on your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle and secure both ends;
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
  • Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle box.
