The Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 30 July 2019, the Police received a report that a residential unit along Compassvale Drive had been broken into and a laptop was found to be missing.
With the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 31 July 2019. The man is also believed to be linked to a series of theft of shoes reported at Compassvale Housing Estate.
The man will be charged in court on 2 August 2019 with housebreaking and theft by day under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment.
The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors and window grills before retiring to bed or when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while; and
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
