The Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty which happened on 3 August 2019 at about 11.20pm along Jurong West Street 65.
Through investigations and with the aid of images from police and CCTV cameras, officers from the Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 5 August 2019.
The man will be charged in court on 7 August 2019 with aggravated outrage of modesty to a person under 14 years of age under Section 354A(2)(b) of the Penal Code. If convicted, he shall be punished with an imprisonment term not less than 3 years and not more than 10 years and with caning.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Devrajan Bala, Commander of Jurong Police Division said, “The Police conducted extensive probes and deployed a large amount of resources to track down the suspect. The efforts paid off and the suspect was swiftly arrested within 36 hours from the time the case was reported.”. He added that the Police will spare no effort to track down offenders to ensure that they are brought to justice and face the full brunt of the law.
