The Singapore Police Force's Deputy Commissioner of Police (Policy) Jerry See has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Antwerp Police Department’s Chief of Police Serge Muyters to promote cooperation between the two forces against transnational crime. The signing ceremony was held on 21 August 2019 at the Port House in Antwerp, Belgium.

This is the first MOU signed with the Antwerp Police Department, signifying a new milestone in close bilateral ties. Cooperation between both police forces is expected to be enhanced in the areas of information sharing, capability building, and training.

Highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the fight against transnational crime, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Policy) Jerry See said: “The Singapore Police Force will continue to work with our strategic partners, both at home and abroad, to keep criminals at bay, in our continuous strive for a more secure Singapore and a safer world. The MOU with the Antwerp Police Department will enable both police forces to learn and tap on each other’s capabilities and experiences, and strengthen our collective fight against transnational criminals and syndicates.”

Chief of Police Serge Muyters said: “The efficiency of the Singapore Police Force caught my attention during a personal visit to Singapore.  I am honored that this now results in an official partnership through the MOU that we signed together today. In a world full of change and globalization, international cooperation, including for the local police, is necessary to be well prepared for all future challenges.”
