In a ceremony held at Central Police Division on 6 September 2019, four members of the public were commended for their public spiritedness.
In the first case, on 17 June 2019, Mr Koh Don Wei, Mr Alfred Padawangi and Ms Kong Oi Kuan had assisted the Police in apprehending a man who tried to flee after he was confronted for taking upskirt photographs of a woman while on an escalator at Tanjong Pagar MRT.
In the second case, on 14 August 2019, Ms Leung Kit Man had assisted the Police in apprehending a man who tried to flee after he was confronted for taking an upskirt video of a woman while on an escalator at Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Gregory Tan Siew Hin, Commander of Central Police Division said “The close partnership between the Police and community is crucial in the fight against crime. The recipients played an important role in assisting the Police in the arrests, and their public spiritedness are indeed commendable. We are thankful for these four individuals’ actions as these crimes could have very well gone unnoticed. They have demonstrated commendable acts of valour and public spiritedness, and they deserve the public’s recognition.”
