The Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 4 November 2019 at about 7.30pm, the Police were alerted to a case where an unknown man had molested a 33-year-old woman along Bedok Reservoir Road. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 5 November 2019 at about 12.05am.
Investigations are ongoing. The offence of outrage of modesty, under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries a jail term of up to 2 years, or with fine, caning, or both.
Members of the public are advised to adopt the following preventive measures:
- Be aware of your surroundings and stay alert to any suspicious person(s);
- Avoid walking through dimly-lit and secluded places or whenever possible, avoid taking the lift with suspicious person(s), if alone; and
- Carry along with you a shrill alarm.
