The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of scams involving fraudulent subscription of mobile lines.

On 6 November 2019 at about 6.30pm, the Police were alerted that a telecommunications company had received several reports between 26 June 2019 and 21 September 2019 from victims who alleged that there were unauthorised mobile subscriptions of mobile lines made under their name.

Through follow up investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day. Further investigations revealed that the man was believed to be involved in other similar cases.

The man will be charged in court on 8 November 2019 with cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted of cheating shall be punished with an imprisonment term, which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
