In a ceremony held at Clementi Police Division on 19 November 2019, a member of the public was commended for his public spiritedness, and staff from three organisations were commended for their strong community partnership with the Police.
Case Commended for Public Spiritedness Award
On 7 September 2019, Mr Abu Aris S/O Mohamed Majnoon was at the void deck when he saw a man behaving suspiciously. He recognised that the man was also behaving suspiciously outside his neighbour’s unit previously and decided to follow the man. At the same time, Mr Aris checked the recording of his CCTV footage using his handphone and saw from the footage that the man had taken something which was placed outside his neighbour’s unit and placed it into his backpack. Mr Aris then followed the accused and managed to detain him at a bus stop before calling the Police, which led to his arrest.
