President Halimah Yacob confers the Distinguished Service Order on Police General (Ret.) Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Ph.D., Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia
Police General (Ret.) Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Ph.D., Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, was conferred the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (Distinguished Service Order) by President Halimah Yacob on 15 January 2020 at the Istana State Room.
Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian was conferred the Distinguished Service Order in recognition of his role in strengthening bilateral ties between the Indonesian National Police and the Singapore Police Force, which has enhanced the safety and security of both countries. Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian was the Chief of the Indonesian National Police from 13 July 2016 to 22 October 2019. He was appointed the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on 23 October 2019.
Under Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian’s leadership, the longstanding friendship between the Indonesian National Police and the Singapore Police Force was substantially strengthened. Both forces enhanced cooperation in the areas of capability building, and combating transnational crime and counter-terrorism.
“The Indonesian National Police is a strategic partner of the Singapore Police Force. We will continue to work closely with our Indonesian counterparts to combat transnational crime and overcome new and emerging security challenges,” said Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck.
Prior to the conferment ceremony, Prof. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and also met separately with Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, and Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck.
