The Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of unlawful discharge of dangerous fireworks.
On 27 October 2019 at 1.20am, the Police responded to an incident of unlawful discharge of dangerous fireworks along Owen Road. Through follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.
The man will be charged in court on 21 January 2020 with the offence of discharge of dangerous fireworks under Section 3(1)(b) of the Dangerous Fireworks Act, Chapter 72. Anyone convicted of the above offence shall be liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000, an imprisonment term not exceeding two years, or both.
Members of the public are reminded that it is an offence to possess, sell, transport, send, deliver, distribute or import any dangerous fireworks. The Police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others as well as cause undue alarm to the public, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
