Two Men Arrested For Cheating By Impersonation With Common Intention

The Police have arrested two men, aged 33 and 34, for their suspected involvement in a case of cheating by impersonation with common intention.

On 21 January 2020 at about 11.00pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a man was being cheated by two unknown men who claimed to be NEA officers along Lorong 8 Geylang. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them on 22 January 2020.

The two men will be charged in court on 23 January 2020 for cheating by impersonation with common intention under Section 419 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Under the Penal Code (Chapter 224), offenders found guilty of cheating by impersonation with common intention shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 5 years, or with fine, or with both.
