The Police have arrested a 63-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted murder.

On 17 January 2020 at about 5.10am, the Police received a call requesting for assistance at Marsiling Lane. Upon arrival, a 41-year-old woman was found injured and was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had been attacked by a man.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Woodlands Police Division conducted investigative probes and ground enquiries and established the identity of the suspect. The man, who is related to the victim, was subsequently arrested on 22 January 2020.  

The man will be charged in court on 24 January 2020 with attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted for attempted murder shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and a fine; and if hurt is caused to any person by such act, he shall be punished with imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to caning, or fine or both.
