The Police have arrested twelve men and two women, aged between 50 and 78, in an enforcement operation conducted by Woodlands Police Division, targeting gambling activities along Yishun Street 72 on 13 February 2020.

During the operation, eight men and two women were arrested for gaming in public under the Common Gaming House Act. The other four men were arrested for offences under the Remote Gambling Act. Cash amounting to $1700 and gambling paraphernalia were seized. Investigations are ongoing.

Under the Common Gaming House Act, any person gaming in public shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or an imprisonment term not exceeding 6 months or both. Under the Remote Gambling Act, any person involved in unlawful remote gambling shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or to both.

The Police take a serious view on all forms of illegal gaming activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those who are involved in such activities.
