The Police have arrested a 24-year-old male National University of Singapore (NUS) student for criminal trespass and suspected voyeurism.  

On 7 March 2020 at about 6.00am, the Police were informed by a NUS campus security personnel that he had detained a man who was found inside a female toilet at the College of Alice & Peter Tan, a residential college on NUS campus.  

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly entered the female toilet to install a hidden camera disguised as a smoke detector. The Police conducted a thorough search, and discovered one such device inside the female toilet where the man was detained, and one other similar device inside another female toilet on the same floor. Police investigations are ongoing.

The offence of criminal trespass under Section 447 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries a jail term of up to three months, or a fine of up to $1,500 or both. The offence of voyeurism under Section 377BB of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries a jail term of up to two years, or a fine or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
