The Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft cases and a case of criminal trespass.

On 9 March 2020 at about 6.20pm, the Police received a report that an unknown man has been staying illegally in a unit that the victim had just purchased.

Officers from Bedok Police Division followed up on the information provided and arrested the man at the vicinity of Bedok North Street 4 on 10 March at about 4pm. The man was found to be in possession of a bicycle and two e-scooters which were believed to be stolen. The bicycle, e-scooters, and a bolt cutter were seized. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was involved in a series of theft cases reported in Chai Chee housing estate.

The man will be charged in court on 12 March 2020 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 and criminal trespass under Section 447 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

The offence of theft carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, or fine, or both. The offence of criminal trespass carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 months, or fine which may extend to $1,500, or both.
