The Police have arrested a 59-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of vandalism.

On 9 March 2020, the Police received a report that the police cameras installed at Block 498 Jurong West Street 41 were faulty. Further investigations revealed that the electrical cables connected to the police cameras had been cut.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 11 March 2020. Police investigations are ongoing.

Anyone convicted for the offence of vandalism under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, or a fine not exceeding $2,000 and caning not less than three strokes and not more than eight strokes.
