Man Charged For Forging Servicing Stickers For Fire Extinguishers

The Police have charged a 52-year-old man for printing forged servicing stickers bearing the mark of an approved workshop, which conducts maintenance of fire extinguishers, for use on fire extinguishers.

On 2 October 2017, the police received a report stating that unauthorised stickers were found on fire extinguishers in a few buildings. The stickers were not authorised by the approved workshop and were found on many fire extinguishers.

Through investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man. The man was employed by a sub-contractor of a vendor working at the incident location, had on 13 occasions printed forged servicing stickers bearing the mark of the approved workshop, without its authorisation or consent.

Following the reports, checks were done on the affected fire extinguishers and they were found to be in working condition.

Anyone found guilty of forgery under Section 465 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 may be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 4 years, or with fine, or with both.

The Police take a zero tolerance approach towards such criminal acts, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
