The Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft in dwelling.
On 18 March 2020, the Police were alerted to a case of theft at a pawnshop at Ang Mo Kio Ave 4. A gold chain amounting to about $13,800 was stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Orchard Road within three hours. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man went to another pawnshop to sell the stolen gold chain after stealing it. The gold chain, cash amounting to more than $10,100, a bag and a t-shirt were seized as case exhibits.
The man will be charged in court on 20 March 2020 with theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.
