The Police have arrested two men, aged 30 and 31, for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 4 April 2020 at about 11.30pm, the Police were alerted to a case of possible housebreaking along Dunearn Road. Officers from Tanglin Police Division responded to the incident and arrested the two men within four hours on 5 April 2020. Several rolls of cable wires believed to have been removed from the building were found in the men’s possession.
The two men will be charged in court on 6 April 2020 with housebreaking and theft with common intention under Section 451 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term, which may extend to 10 years, and a fine.
The Police would like to advise the all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
· Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
· Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises; and
· Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
