The Police have arrested four men, aged between 52 and 72, during an enforcement operation conducted by Bedok Police Division along Changi Road on 7 April 2020.
During the enforcement operation against gambling activities, the four men were arrested for offences under the Common Gaming House Act. Cash amounting to $843/- and gambling paraphernalia were seized during the operation.
Investigations are ongoing.
Under Section 8(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act, it is an offence for any person gaming in public which carries a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or both. Under Section 8(4) of the Common Gaming Houses Act, it is an offence for any person who instigates, promotes or intentionally facilitates the commission of an offence, which carries a fine of not less than $20,000 and not more than $200,000 and jail not exceeding 5 years.
The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
