The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 2 April 2020 at about 2.30am, the Police were alerted to a break-in at a unit along Lavender Street. Five bottles of liquors amounting to more than $1,300 were reported stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV images, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 3 April 2020.
Investigations are ongoing. The offence of housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

- The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended;
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash at commercial premises.
