The Police are investigating a 55-year-old man for voluntarily causing hurt.
On 12 April 2020 at about 5.50 pm, the Police was alerted to an incident involving a female service attendant who was allegedly slapped by a man at a petrol station located along Jervois Rd. Preliminary investigations revealed that the female service attendant had advised the man to wear a mask before entering the store, but he had refused to do so. The man subsequently became agitated and had allegedly slapped the female service attendant on the face.
Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of voluntarily causing hurt carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, or a fine which may extend to $5,000, or both.
