The Police are investigating a 37-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman for their suspected involvement in promoting vice activities and circulating obscene materials via an online forum.
On 18 February 2020, the Police received a report against a website with a forum that offers users a platform to search for sexual hook-ups and circulate pornographic images. Through investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the duo.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to have created the forum to allow members to discuss and/or meet-up for sexual activities, while the woman is believed to be assisting the man with the forum’s administration. Members were also allowed to post and exchange pornographic photos of themselves on the forum.
Investigations are ongoing. The offence of putting obscene materials into circulation under Section 292(1)(a) of the Penal Code is punishable with imprisonment for up to 3 months, or a fine, or both.
Members of the public are advised not to solicit on any lewd website or join such online platforms and illicit chat groups. The Police takes a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those breaking the law.
