The Police have arrested an 18-year-old teenager for his suspected involvement in a sexual service scam.
On 24 April 2020, Police received a report from a 24-year-old male victim who was purportedly duped into making multiple payments amounting to $5869 between 26 March and 10 April 2020 after responding to an online advertisement for sexual services from a woman. He did not get to meet the woman.
Through investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 11 May 2020.
Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term which may extend up to 10 years and a fine.
