The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 26 June 2020 at about 7.05pm, the Police received a report that a shop located along Tanjong Katong Road was broken into and cash amounting to $1,196 was reported stolen.
Through investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.
The man will be charged in court on 27 June 2020 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in any premises; and
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
