The Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon.
On 20 August 2020, the Police were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon at a bus stop along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1. The victim was found with several injuries and was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Through investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 21 August 2020. The Police would like to thank members of the public for providing valuable information which aided investigations and contributed to the arrest. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is not known to the victim and the assault allegedly arose from an incident that happened on a bus journey.
The man will be charged in court on 22 August 2020 with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, or fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
