There will be a change of command in Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 1 October 2020.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Zed Teo Zi-Ming (张子明) will assume the command of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 1 October 2020. He will take over from Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Zhang Weihan (张伟汉), who will assume the appointment of Deputy Director, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the same day.
DAC Teo, 36, joined the SPF in 2003. He has held several key appointments including Deputy Commander of Woodlands Police Division, Special Assistant to Minister for Home Affairs, Senior Assistant Director in the Policy Development Division of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Head Operations and Training at Ang Mo Kio Police Division, and Commanding Officer of Toa Payoh Neighbourhood Police Centre.
AC Zhang, 38, joined the SPF in 2001. He was appointed Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 3 November 2017. He has held several key appointments including Deputy Director of the Joint Operations Group of MHA, Head Operations and Training at Jurong Police Division, Senior Assistant Director of the Industry Division of Ministry of Trade & Industry (MTI), and Commanding Officer of Bukit Timah Neighbourhood Police Centre.
During AC Zhang’s tenure as Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the division has solved several high-profile cases such as an e-commerce scam case where victims were cheated of over $185,000 in February 2020 and the murder case at Punggol Field in May 2020. He oversaw a series of Community Safety & Security Programme (CSSP) projects such as collaboration with the Centre for Promoting Alternatives to Violence (PAVE) on an educational picture book - ‘A Day with Bob’ - to counter family violence in 2020, and a makeathon with Nanyang Polytechnic to develop innovative solutions to prevent theft of personal mobility devices in 2018. AC Zhang also led his officers in various major security operations such as Trump-Kim Summit (2018), COVID-19 operations at migrant worker dormitories (2020) and the General Elections (2020).
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, AC Zhang said, “It has been a great honour and privilege to serve alongside all Ang Mo Kio Police Division officers, including our National Servicemen and volunteers. I am grateful for their unwavering support and dedication to duty in our fight against crime. Time and again, officers have stepped up to help Singapore deal with challenges, including the current threat of COVID-19. I would also like to thank our community partners and stakeholders for the close collaboration on the ground. Our collective efforts have brought about a safer home for all.”
