The Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of mischief by fire.

On 7 November 2020 between 3.29am and 7.25am, the Police received multiple reports of fire at five separate locations along Hougang Central and Hougang Avenue 4. Bicycles, construction materials and discarded items were damaged by the fire.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 15 hours from when the first incident was reported. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other cases of mischief by fire along Hougang Ave 7 and Hougang Ave 3.

The man will be charged in court on 9 November 2020 with mischief by fire under Section 435 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, and a fine.
