The Police have arrested a man and a woman, both aged 30, for their suspected involvement in two separate cases of loanshark harassment.

For the first case, on 9 November 2020, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment at a residential unit along Tampines Street 81, where the gate was secured with a bicycle lock and a debtor’s note was left behind. Through investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him 12 November 2020. A mobile phone was seized as case exhibit. Police investigations against the man are ongoing.

For the second case, on 12 November 2020, the Police received a call for assistance along Bedok Reservoir Road, where the victim had informed that a woman was allegedly attempting to secure the gate of his residential unit with a lock. The woman was subsequently arrested by officers from Bedok Police Division for loanshark harassment on the spot. A lanyard, lock and debtor’s note were seized as case exhibits. The woman will be charged in court on 13 November 2020 under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010).
