On 26 November 2020, the Police carried out an enforcement operation against an unlicensed public entertainment outlet located along Genting Lane.
The operation was led by Bedok Police Division and supported by officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.
During the operation, a total of 13 men and 11 women, aged between 22 and 49, were investigated for their alleged breach of COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 for failing to comply with safe distancing measures.
Ten women, aged between 20 and 30, were also arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act and three women were also found to have overstayed in Singapore under the Immigration Act.
Two men, aged 23 and 25, who are believed to be operators for the unlicensed public entertainment outlet will also be investigated for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment & Liquor Control Act. The offences of providing public entertainment & providing liquor without a valid license each carries a fine not exceeding $20,000.
Members of the public are advised to take the prevailing safe distancing measures seriously. Under the COVID 19 (Temporary Measures) of Act 2020, first-time offenders may be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to six months, or both. Subsequent offenders may be fined up to $20,000, jailed for up to 12 months, or both.
The Police will continue to take tough enforcement actions against criminal activities during this period. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
