The Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon.
On 17 January 2021 at about 10.00pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a victim was purportedly attacked by another man with a pocket knife along West Coast Drive. The victim suffered a minor injury on his back and was conscious when conveyed to National University Hospital.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 21 January 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that both the man and the victim are believed to be unknown to each other, and the man allegedly had a dispute with the victim before the incident.
The man will be charged in court on 23 January 2021 with voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon. The offence of voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, or fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
