The Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
On 14 March 2021 at about 12.10am, Police received a call for assistance where man was allegedly seen holding a knife and walking towards a coffeeshop along Clementi West Street 2.
Upon arrival, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the 40-year-old man and arrested him. One knife was seized as a case exhibit.
The 40-year-old man will be charged in court on 15 March 2021, with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, punishable under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act. The offence of carrying an offensive weapon in a public place carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years and at least six strokes of the cane.
The Police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law.
