The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for rash act causing grievous hurt, traffic and drug-related offences.
On 27 March 2021 at about 7.30am, a Traffic Police officer stopped a car for suspected traffic violations along CTE towards AYE, before Balestier Road exit. During the checks, the driver allegedly drove off suddenly and dragged the Traffic Police officer along with the moving vehicle for a distance.
The Traffic Police officer suffered multiple injuries and he was conveyed to hospital. The officer is receiving treatment at the hospital and his condition is stable.
The car was subsequently found abandoned along Towner Road, and the man was arrested on the same day at 1.10pm. Police investigations are ongoing.
The man will be charged in court on 29 March 2021. Persons convicted for rash act causing grievous hurt under Section 338(a) of the Penal Code shall be liable to imprisonment which may extend up to four years, a fine which may extend to $10,000, or both.
Road users are advised to comply with traffic rules and regulations, as well as abide by the directions of Police officers during enforcement checks.
The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence against public servants who are carrying out their duties and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
