The Police have arrested five male youths, aged between 14 and 19, for their suspected involvement in a case of unlawful assembly and voluntarily causing hurt which occurred at Bedok North Street 3 on 22 March 2021. Four other men, aged between 24 and 37, and two other female youths, aged 16 and 17, are also being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt.
On 22 March 2021 at about 11.45pm, the Police received multiple calls about a fight involving more than 10 people at the vicinity of Blk 542 Bedok North Street 3.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the 11 persons allegedly involved and brought them back for investigations.
The offence of being a member of an unlawful assembly is punishable under Section 143 of the Penal Code and carries an imprisonment term of up to two years, a fine, or both. The offence of voluntarily causing hurt is punishable under Section 323 of the Penal Code and carries an imprisonment term of up to two years, a fine which may extend to $5,000, or both.
Police investigations are ongoing.
