The Police have arrested three 20-year-old men for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
On 8 April 2021 at about 9.55pm, the Police received a report that a 19-year-old male teenager had allegedly been assaulted and robbed by three unknown men along Chancery Lane. Fifty boxes of assorted e-vaporiser pods, 10 e-vaporiser components and a mobile phone belonging to the 19-year-old teenager were allegedly taken.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the three men and arrested them on 9 April 2021.
Police investigations against the three men for robbery with hurt are ongoing. The three men and 19-year-old teenager will also be investigated for offences under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act.
The offence of robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
It is an offence under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act to sell, possess for sale, import or distribute e-vaporisers and their related components. First-time offenders face a fine of up to $10,000, up to six months' jail, or both. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $20,000, jailed for up to 12 months, or both. It is also an offence to possess, purchase or use e-vaporisers and related components. The penalty is a fine of up to $2,000.
