The Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery.

On 19 April 2021 at about 4.25am, the Police were alerted to a case of armed robbery at a store along Bukit Batok Street 52. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly robbed the unit by demanding the victim to open the cash register. He was allegedly armed with a knife during the commission of the offence and purportedly took eight packets of cigarettes before fleeing the store.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and store CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the reported crime.

The man will be charged in court on 20 April 2021 with armed robbery, under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code. The offence carries a penalty of not less than 3 years and not more than 14 years imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
