Man Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Means

The Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means.

On 10 May 2021 at about 11.20pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a 41-year-old man was allegedly attacked by his son with a sharp object along Commonwealth Avenue West. The 41-year-old man suffered multiple injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital. His 21-year-old son had left the scene before police’s arrival. Preliminary investigations revealed that both men supposedly had a dispute before the incident.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division and Jurong Police Division established the whereabouts of the 21-year-old man and arrested him within four hours of the reported crime.

The man will be charged in court on 12 May 2021 for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means under Section 324 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
