The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
On 29 July 2021 at about 5.35 am, the Police were alerted to a case where a victim was allegedly kicked and punched by a man along Clementi Ave 5. The man then fled the scene prior to Police’s arrival. The injured male victim was conscious when conveyed to hospital subsequently.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within three hours of the report. Preliminary investigations revealed that both the man and the victim are believed to be known to each other, and the man allegedly had a dispute with the victim before the incident.
The man will be charged in court on 30 July 2021 with voluntarily causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code. The offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt carries an imprisonment term which may extend to ten years, and include a fine or caning.
