Woman Arrested For Suspected Involvement In Vice-Related Activities

The Police have arrested a 34-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in vice-related activities.

On 29 September 2021, officers from Bedok Police Division conducted an anti-vice enforcement operation at a residential unit along Seraya Lane. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had allegedly provided sexual services in the unit and had committed an offence under the Women’s Charter.

Police investigations are ongoing. Under Section 147(1A) of the Women’s Charter, any person who keeps, manages, or assists in the management of a place of assignation shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $100,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, or both. In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, persons are liable to a fine not exceeding $150,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years, or both.

Property owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises. Those who knowingly allow their premises to be used for vice-related activities will be prosecuted under the Women’s Charter and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $100,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, or both. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $150,000, jailed up to seven years, or both.

The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
