Man Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Weapon Within Six Hours

The Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon.

On 2 October 2021 at about 11.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a male victim was purportedly stabbed by an unknown man using a knife along Yishun Street 31. The victim suffered lacerations to his chest and shoulder, and was conscious when conveyed to hospital. The assailant had fled the scene prior to Police’s arrival.

Through follow-up investigations, and with the aid of images from PolCam and information provided by a member of the public, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him within six hours of the reported crime.

The man will be charged in court on 4 October 2021 with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
