The Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of possession of offensive weapon in a public place.

On 8 October 2021 at about 6.10pm, the Police received a call for assistance where a man was allegedly in possession of a knife, at a coffeeshop along Clementi Avenue 1.

Upon arrival, officers from Clementi Police Division, established the identity of the 58-year-old man and arrested him. One knife was seized as a case exhibit.

The 58-year-old man will be charged in court on 9 October 2021, with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, punishable under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act. The offence of carrying an offensive weapon in a public place carries an imprisonment term of up to three years and at least six strokes of the cane.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law.
